Dog Development
Our involvement in dog development is a vital part of our identity. Our ultimate goal is to see dogs who not only excel at their job but also love what they do. We are passionate about developing young dogs, and we understand that training, genetics, socialisation, and environmental exposure are all significant factors that contribute to their success.
We source our dogs from reputable breeders who have invested a considerable amount of time and effort into breeding exceptional working dog bloodlines in Australia. Occasionally, we encounter dogs that are not suitable for a typical household, but we provide them with another opportunity by training them and hopefully, they will thrive in a detection role.
Furthermore, we have our own breeding kennel, called 'Peregrines,' which is dedicated to breeding dogs specifically for detection roles.

Each of the detection dogs we develop undergoes the following:
- Existential Feeding
- Understanding secondary reinforcers (such as a ball or a tug)
- Marker Training
- Shaping Exercises
- Drive Development
- Socialisation
- Environmental Exposure
- Basic Obedience ( a sit, down and loose leash walking)
- Directional Training
- Basics of detection (includes indicating a neutral odour and the ability to search)
- Crate Training

Most dogs in development will stay in a kennel environment and go home with the trainers. For any more information, send us an email info@k9bellator.com
